Twilight

I swore I wouldn’t get caught up in the frenzy that is the Twilight series books and movies.
I categorized these into two slots: teenage & vampires…neither of which I was interested in reading about. That is until I visited my parents over the Thanksgiving holiday and had nothing better to do.
My step-mom has all the books, she has read all of the books and she is intent on seeing the movie so I probed to see what all the fuss was about. Our conversation ranged from the shear creativity of the books to the philosophical issues involved. In the end, I was both intrigued and also bored, thus I started reading.
All I can say is, “WOW”! And I’m just through book one and about half of New Moon!
I’ll admit, it’s all very fantastical and I feel a little juvenile reading it, but it definitely is a well told story!
Mrs. Meyer did an excellent job at writing these books in my opinion; I’m envious at what she even refers to as her novice ability!!
I cant wait to read the rest!! TEAM EDWARD ROCK ON!!

Be careful what you wish for....

My mother always told me (jokingly I think) not to pray for patience because God would give it to me. What I didn't understand at the time was that what she meant was don't pray for patience if you don't want God to teach you to have it. Speaking as someone who isn't gifted in this paticular area, only now do I realize how much actual patience it takes in learning to have it.

Wewief at wast!

Ever since being pregnant with my beautiful daughter, I have had serious back pain. It seems to have gone from the occassional neck and shoulder irritation to sharp, excrutiating lower back pain and then some dull ache in between. I assumed losing the 40 pounds of baby weight would alleviate the problem, but here we are seven months later and I am still dealing with it.
That is until this past week.
Despite my extreme fear of going to a chiropractor (I had a really bad experience once), I broke down and decided to find one. My search at first yeilded only ones that were out of my network. Though they had been recommended by friends, I couldn’t afford not having at least some of the treatment covered. Thus I turned to Google and went with my gut when I chose the first find.
Dr. John Hanna is a gift from God and he is also gifted by God to do what he does. In only two adjustments, I already feel like a new woman. Though I know the road ahead will serve in actually correcting the problem (a severely curved spine and pinched nerves) not just curing the symptoms; I am simply estatic that I can move with relatively no pain. What an answered prayer!!
To those of you in the Charlotte area that may be looking for a Chiropractor, just see my favorite webpages for the link to Matthews Family Chiro.
By the way, there is none of the harsh snap, cracking and popping invovled- WOOHOO!!

Lists, lists and more lists...

I’ve always written stuff down that I’ve needed to remember. But I have come to a point in my life that I literally write EVERYTHING down now.

Grocery lists, Christmas lists, phone numbers, feeding schedule, blog notes, recipes, passcodes and even my car mileage, I’ve got it all. It’s all kept in this one notebook that never leaves my side.

I honestly don’t know if it’s old age, if it’s the product of a hectic schedule, or just plain ole OCD. But whatever the reason, my entire life and times is now on paper.

If only I could write a book….I’ll add that to the list!

Now I get it…..

I was told when I had my daughter that she would most definitely be a daddy’s girl. I was also told she would say dada long before she uttered the word mama. I had a hard time believing that, of course. She and I would be two peas in a pod, there was no way that I would be second best when her dad was around.

I was wrong.

Emma is a daddy’s girl and when he is here, I barely exist unless it’s time to feed her. She has also started saying, “Dadadada”. I don’t know if she knows what it means, but she is definitely saying it. But, this is ok. Because I’ve figured something out (at least I’d like to think so)!

You see, daddy’s are the weak link. They give in to all that is precious, thus they give into their little girl’s every wish. Ever heard of, “she has him wrapped around her little finger”? Anyway, babies know this so they sucker punch by being cute and batting those eyes while saying their little dadadadadas. That makes for instant daddy mush and baby girl can get away with murder!

So, I’m ok with the daddy’s girl stuff and the dadadadas because it’s simply my daughter using the art of manipulation.

Or at least that’s what I’ll keep telling myself….
