Be careful what you wish for....

My mother always told me (jokingly I think) not to pray for patience because God would give it to me. What I didn't understand at the time was that what she meant was don't pray for patience if you don't want God to teach you to have it. Speaking as someone who isn't gifted in this paticular area, only now do I realize how much actual patience it takes in learning to have it.

This is amazing. I belong to the Muslim faith and I used to ask for patience until someone told me that doing so will mean you will be given that but with additional trials. Hence thereone I stopped.

From studying positive thinking, I have realized much of it conforms to what my religion teaches me.

I believe faith in general teaches you patience. It is my faith as a Christian that has taught me about persistance and fortitude. To have faith says you are relying on a source bigger than you to provide for and direct you- GOD does this for us. It isn't always easy, but we were never promised it would be. This is so true because we follow our own will far too often (being impatient) instead of focusing on God's will for our lives.
Thanks for your comment!

Preach it sistsa - NEVER EVER pray for patience! My childhood Sunday school teacher taught me that. She would say, "pray for mercy and grace, but NEVER patience!" I never have. Although - doesn't mean I haven't had my share of trials!
