It was the way I thought I would best be able to handle two children - personal decision that has worked out for us. There are definite disadvantages to the age gap, but there are definite advantages too. My second (as with my first) was not completely planned out - not prevented but not encouraged...so I take them both as a sign that these are the two I was supposed to have. For my it ultimately came down to this...while being a mom is harder than I could ever imagine and has pushed me to be more patient and a better person (not always successful at either!) I just simply could not imagine my life with only one child...I felt I was supposed to have more, and at a certain point took the leap...I was older and I figured let's see what happens.
